Rendering from provided 3D modeled images...
Using Photoshop, I do a combination of the following:
• Composite and retouch site photographs to establish a setting that most closely matches the perspective of the provided 3d rendering. Adjust lighting and color to realistically blend in with or intentionally separate from that model. I do my own location photography if possible or necessary, but most often use provided photos.
• Adjust model or model elements as needed. This includes removing and adding elements, or changing proportions and/or positions and any perspective adjustments as a result of those changes. Often retouching and lighting adjustments are required.
• Create materials (and their repeats if needed) from scans, image searches, or provided sources. Apply those materials to objects or surfaces in perspective and distort them to follow contours if needed. Especially useful with wood, textile, or stone materials because it provides greater control than with a 3D renderer.
• Paint in lighting and shading. That could include changing the light direction, adding new light sources, or recreating 3D rendered lighting (i.e. to apply when adding new replacement materials)
• Add people. I like to go the extra mile with people when time allows. Throughout the image search process, I'm looking for people that not only fit the action/activity and diversity needed but also the perspective and light direction. However, I often re-light people. I also often distort, adjust, or even combine parts of different people (heads, bodies, limbs) to achieve the desired action. And of course there are the general silhouetting, retouching and color adjustments.
• Add objects from a variety of sources and adjust (color, perspective, retouching, etc) or illustrate them. This includes everything from big sculptural elements, signage, graphics, lights, and plants down to small things like napkins, utensils, books, phones, etc.
• Create reflections and shadows
